Tiramisu roll with Kinder Bueno

This recipe was put together and designed specifically for the upcoming Father's Day, though of course that doesn't mean you shouldn't make it at other times 🤭. Tiramisu roulade is fun to make with kids – it's simple, enjoyable, and the result looks quite luxurious.

Tiramisu roll with Kinder Bueno doesn't require baking – just a bit of whipping, rolling together, and some patience until the flavors meld in the fridge. Fluffy mascarpone cream, strong coffee, and creamy chocolatey Kinder Bueno create a perfect combination that's both homely and a bit festive. You can always replace the coffee with cocoa, making it suitable for kids to enjoy too.

You need:

  • Ladyfingers 200g (1 pack)
  • Strong coffee for soaking the cookies
  • Cocoa powder for dusting (unsweetened)
  • For decoration: Mesikäpa cookies/wafer balls, Kinder Bueno white or brown, I also used Suffeli heart-shaped raspberry candies

Cream filling

  • Mascarpone 400g
  • Whipped cream 200g
  • Milk chocolate 100g
  • Sugar 80g
  • Cocoa 30g (unsweetened)
  • Kinder Bueno 4 sticks (2 packs)
  • Hazelnuts 120g (about 100g between the roll and 20g for sprinkling on top)

Cream to cover the roll

  • Whipped cream 100g
  • Mascarpone 100g
  • Icing sugar 60g
  • Cocoa 10g (unsweetened)
  • Take a larger base or tray and place plastic wrap on it. You can start assembling the roll on top of the wrap.
  • If you wish, you can make two half rolls right away, making it easier to roll them up. Or, as I did, make one long roll and then cut it in half later for easier serving.
  • Prepare strong coffee and quickly dip each cookie through it. If there are small children eating, you can soak them in cocoa instead. Arrange the cookies in two rows - 212 pcs (if making half rolls right away, two rolls 26 cookies each) and set aside. Definitely do the cookie soaking first, so the cookies soften enough during cream preparation to roll up.
  • To take the path of least resistance, buy pre-roasted and peeled hazelnuts from the store.
  • If you buy unroasted ones, roast the hazelnuts in the oven at 160°C for about 12 minutes, until the skins start to crack and come off. I've also roasted them in an air fryer, and they were done even faster. Don't roast at too high a temperature or for too long, otherwise the nuts will get a bitter taste.
  • If the nut pack is a bit larger, I still roast the whole pack at once. The leftovers can be eaten as is or stored in an airtight container for next time.
  • While the nuts are still warm, rub them against each other in your palms and "roll" them between your hands to remove the skins.
  • Weigh out the required amount of roasted nuts and chop them into slightly smaller pieces. Don't chop them into complete powder, otherwise you won't feel them inside the roll.
  • Melt the milk chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler and let it cool.
  • Whip the cold whipping cream with sugar and cocoa into a light foam, then add mascarpone and whip until stiff.
  • To prevent the warm chocolate from seizing in the cold cream, first add a small portion of cream to the chocolate and mix until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture back into the remaining cream and mix until smooth.
  • Add the chopped nuts (100g) to the cream and mix until even.
  • Spread the cream evenly over the soaked cookies.
  • Chop the Kinder Bueno into smaller pieces and spread them over the roll, pressing them slightly into the cream.
  • Put your hands under the plastic wrap and roll it up so the cookies come together.
  • You need to do it in one swift motion and quickly, so the cookies don't start falling off the plastic wrap.
  • Press the roll tightly together, and gently press the ends too.
  • Keep the roll in the fridge for at least 3 hours, ideally overnight.
  • Whip cold whipping cream, mascarpone, cocoa, and powdered sugar together into stiff peaks.
  • Pick out a suitable and favorite piping tip and piping bag.
  • Fill the piping bag with cream.
  • If you made one long roll, cut it in half from the center and place on a base/plate.
  • Dust the rolls with cocoa.
  • Pipe cream onto the rolls.
  • Decorate with the remaining chopped nuts, Kinder Bueno pieces, and for example small wafer or cookie balls.
